I just dearly adore so much of Jane Galt’s Asymmetrical Information - while I don’t always agree with everything she says, this tickled me in particular:
“…don’t think I’m letting you guys off, here. A lot of you act like big fat jerks. Just because evolution designed you to act that way doesn’t mean you shouldn’t let civilization overcome those instincts. Nature also designed you to sleep in the woods and die at twenty, and if you can’t be civilized, I suggest you oblige. If, for example, I hear a male adopt the pro-life side, he’d better be willing to step up and shoulder his responsibilities with a ring.”
Hee. Not that I’m saying you should get married just because there’s a kid involved, because that’s a whole other sort of Gothic tragedy, but hee.
