Thanks to Neil Gaiman for linking to Nick Lowe’s essay on The Well-Tempered Plot Device. All my concerns about writing a well-constructed novel for NaNoWriMo are hereby laid to rest.

Sorry for no interesting posts lately – I’ve been a bit out of it for a few days with food poisoning. To remedy my lack of input here, I want to tell all three of you to go read this extraordinary essay by Tony Woodlief about remembering his daughter on the anniversary of her death. I hope I’ll never need the words to write about such a thing, but I pray I’d express myself with such grace and love.

I’m rethinking the subject of my November novel. Thinking that in light of recent events in and out of Congress, I should choose a different focus and run with those voices inside my head. Yeah. My thanks to skits and kd for their inadvertent input. I love the quote kd threw up on one of her pages – “It’s hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightening” — Calvin.
