Okay, now I think I’m being a whiny candy-ass about it. After all, I didn’t go out and get the domain when I could have. And the guy is new to blogging, so I’m sure it wasn’t an intentional slight or competitive sort of act. Nevertheless, I’ve gone and registered inkblog.org and inkblog.net. Just ‘cuz hindsight is 20-20. Got absolutely no plans for them, except maybe as an extended writer’s resource kind of thing – maybe give out almost-free space to almost-indigent writers to have their own pages. Hmm… that could be my Maverick Philanthropic act for the rest of this year. Hmm… it won’t feed kids in China or Uganda, but it would be a think-global/act-local kind of thing. Sort of.

I know it’s partially my fault for not registering the domain when I had the chance, but I thought it was understood that you don’t use someone else’s blog name, if only so as to ensure that you have a unique place to be on the web. Unfortunately, I guess not everyone feels that way, as I just found out when I stumbled across InkBlog : The Random Musings of David Weller. I am not David Weller, and that is not my blog, but nevertheless it bears my blog’s name. Ack. I feel identity-thefted. I really have no legal right to feel that way – most likely there’s no real copyright infringement issue that I could point to with a cease-and-desist kind of thing (much less the negative juju and uglyness that would ensue from same). They say that imitation is the soul of flattery, but dammit! Maybe I can ask him if he wants to sell me the domain. Why do I care so much? I am not my blog *grumble* *grumble* but I do put a lot of myself – my thoughts, my random mutterings, my personality – and have out here for the last two years for all and sundry to see, and sure it’s egotistical, but I’d like to think that my uniqueness is somewhat appreciated… hell, perceived, if nothing else.

Sept. 11 Families Join to Sue Saudis – this makes me happy and is just; why should the Saudis get to sit tight in their desert kingdom and finance chaos and despair across the world?
